2022 Winter Competition – R4

The cold weather continued his week, and it seems the flu and common cold has affected player numbers as much as Covid, but we did manage to field all 4 teams this week!
Round 4 is done – but we still have 7 to go before the finals – so there’s plenty of time to get into some good form – and good health!

Some important things to note this week :

NO TRAINING – Monday June 13 – POOL CLOSED (Queen’s Birthday)
Training will resume as per usual next week

Many of you will know Life Members Neville Brown and his sister Sheridan Mom (WSL3).  Sadly this week, their brother Adrian passed away following complications around a complex health problem.  Adrian and Neville co-founded the Oak Park Water Polo Club (the Water Ratz) back in 1985 by recruiting a handful of their swimming club mates, none of whom had ever played water polo.  Together, Adrian and Neville taught themselves and others how to play and developed the club further over the following years to expand into two men’s and one women’s team.  Adrian retired from the sport in 1994 having played 179 games for the club and scoring 163 goals.  Sheridan and Neville continued to play and the club expanded and developed further into Oak Park-Essendon, and then simply Essendon.  We are deeply saddened by the loss of such a vibrant and loveable man who helped shape the journey of our club.  Adrian leaves behind a wife Janine and of course mum Thelma who donated a kidney to him some years ago.  We offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family at this very difficult time.

Now here’s all the game night action from the pool, in the Weekly Wrap :
