The Winter Competition is officially over, and Essendon has walked away with a Men’s SL6 premiership! Well done to the boys, who took on Melbourne University Thursday night, with a solid performance, winning 10-1. Our Men’s SL4 squad lapsed in the 3rd quarter of their Grand Final game and a winning result slipped away, going down 5-8 against DVE Aquatic on Wednesday night. They will need to re-group and prepare for revenge in the forthcoming State Championships – but a great effort to get to the GF game.
1. AGM – June 22, 7.30pm
The club’s Annual General Meeting will be held this Monday night at VU, despite there being no training. The meeting will cover our club financial accounts, and members will have to opportunity to elect our new committee for the next 12mths. Please consider attending, and being pro-active within your club!
2. CLUB MEMBERSHIPS DUE
With the end of June fast approaching, so too does your club membership. Irrespective of when you joined the club – all memberships expire on June 30. Your membership needs to be renewed in order to train or play games. The club will post information soon, on our 2015-16 fees, and how to register.
3. CHANGES TO TRAINING
Monday June 22 – NO TRAINING
Monday June 29 – NO TRAINING
Monday July 6 – NO TRAINING
Training resumes on Monday July 13
4. STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The next competition for youth and senior players will start in August. We will see the introduction of FINAs new water polo format – which is 6 aside (5 field players + 1 GK). With our men’s teams already quite full, and our women’s squad numbers creeping up, it is CRITICAL that you confirm whether or not you intend to play for the club next competition (and therefore pay the new club fees). Numbers will determine how many teams we enter, and if players fail to indicate they are returning, we may see squads of 16 for the 12 game places available each week. Please help us to make the right decisions on team entries, by RSVP-ing to :
Darren (for women) – email@example.com
Andrew (for men) – firstname.lastname@example.org
5. A VERY SPECIAL DINNER – Thursday, July 16
The Essendon Football Club and Sporting Communities (EFCSC) are putting on a “Very Special Dinner” to raise money for the Very Special Kids Charity. The EFCSC are a MAJOR SPONSOR of our club, contributing between $10,000-$14,000 per year. Without their help, our fees would be almost double what you are currently paying! So we are looking to have at least one Essendon Water Polo table there on the night to support this great event – and it will be HUGE! Hosting by Channel 7s Brian Taylor, the panel will include former football stars – Matthew Richardson, Anthony Koutoufides and Mark Harvey. The cost is just $70, which includes a 3 course dinner, drinks and entertainment. By all means – bring your partner, friends or family! If you want to be on the Essendon table, please contact Matt Roberts : email@example.com
