We are down to the final games of the Winter Competition, with 2 teams guaranteed a place in the Grand Final : well done to our WSL3 and MSL6 teams! Our WSL2 side currently 3rd, can still mathematically get there, but are reliant on the 2nd placed team losing next week. Unfortunately our Youth Girls have missed out. We still have one more regular round to play, before the GF games.
Our sub-juniors were also back in action over the weekend, with the Winter Hit Out being played at MSAC. This was a great idea from Water Polo Victoria to get the kids back into some game action as it’s a long break between comps for them. We had enough players available to enter a 12/U Mixed, who played 2 games on Saturday. They beat the MC Minnows in a nail biter, but were defeated by a strong Monash side. Check out the photos on our facebook page.
Now here’s the other important stuff :
1. NO TRAINING – Monday June 10
The pool is closed due to it being a public holiday
2. GRAND FINALS – Tues June 18 / Thurs June 20
The grand final games will be played on your usual game night, but take note of the times and ensure your availability :
WSL2 7.45pm June 18
WSL3 7.00pm June 18
MSL6 7.45pm June 20
Usually for Grand Final games there are nail checks and tighter reffing. The teamsheet will be scrutinized for eligible players and signatures and you need to remember that only the captain is allowed to approach referees (and only during a quarter time break) to ask for clarity over a decision, or for an explanation of a call. No one else is supposed to engage with the refs during the game. Most of the time these kind of rules are ignored… but come finals, suddenly everything is done by the book.
3. AGM – New Committee
